The Men’s 100 metre race in the upcoming National Senior Trials, will without a doubt, be the single biggest 100 metres ever run at Jamaica’s National Trials. Indeed there is good reason to argue that this may well be the most talented group of sprinters ever seen at any National Trial ever for any country. For one thing, there are now eight people in Jamaica who have run the distance in less than 10 seconds in the last twelve months. Assuming that Bolt runs, he will have seven other people who are in that sub 10 category. The list includes Michael Frater, Nesta Carter, Nickel Ashmeade, Asafa Powell, Mario Forsythe, Steve Mullings and Yohann Blake. When you also add Lerone Clarke, who also has a lifetime best of under 10, you will realise that this promises to be no ordinary race.
Incidentally, Lerone Clarke is the Commonwealth Champion. He may not even make the final. Oshane Bailey is the defending 100 metre National Champion. He took the title when a lot of the big athletes opted to stay away from the National Trials last year. He too may struggle to get in the final. Other up and coming stars such as double World Champion Dexter Lee, may not even be there when the starter calls them to orders in the deciding race on Friday June 24 at 9:25pm inside Jamaica’s National Stadium.

OMG! Awesome. Got to be there. But stick a pin. Is the Lightning Bolt required to run after being Olympic and World Champion? So you mean I might not even see him in action? Major disappointment.
